In 1934, the New Orleans District Engineers became the 5th federally chartered credit union in the United States. Not only that, the New Orleans District was the first Corps of Engineers District in the country to establish their own credit union. The symbol of the US Army Corps of Engineers is a castle. We were the first credit union for the Corps, hence the name First Castle Federal Credit Union!
First Castle is owned and controlled by you—our members. As with all financial cooperatives, we are not-for-profit. This means that our members benefit from the credit union’s success by way of lower loan rates and higher deposit rates. We are here to offer our members a safe, convenient place to save and borrow money, to provide excellence in member service, and to assist in building their financial future.
It is our foremost concern to protect and preserve the assets of our members. Our credit union, like all credit unions, is closely regulated. The National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, administered by the National Credit Union Administration, an agency of the federal government, insures deposits of credit union members at federal and state-chartered credit unions nationwide. Your membership entitles your family to the same valuable financial services and products that are available to you! Family membership is extended to include your children, spouse, parents, brothers and sisters, grandchildren, and grandparents.
Even if you leave St. Tammany Parish or employment of the Corps, a member in good standing can remain a lifelong member. With the convenience of the Shared Branch Network, Direct Deposit, and Net Teller, you can easily obtain all the benefits of membership whatever path you travel.
